New suburbs are the place to find rows of similar looking homes: a myth


There's a myth that new subdivisions are the place to find rows of similar looking homes. Not true. Building like-looking homes, sometimes identical, either side by side or here and there throughout a region, has a long and honourable record.

Here we call houses in subdivisions "cookie cutter houses" because they look alike....I do notice in some areas where they built housing for railroad workers a hundred years ago are also very similar in style.

You can see the similarities, of course, but time has allowed for some variety in their appearances.

After posting this, I saw some new homes today that blew away all the cookie cutter heritage homes I've encountered in London.
